Pocito

Pocito is a neutered, male pointer under 1 year old. One summer day we received a phone call from tourists in Fira shocked by the appearance of a terribly thin puppy begging for food at a souvlaki tavern. The volunteer that received the call started walking towards the main square while the other volunteer was at work, waiting on the second floor or the Tax office. They were in direct phone communication talking about this puppy that the first volunteer was searching for but could not track anywhere… at the same moment the puppy decided to enter the Tax office climb the stairs to the second floor and go directly to the bench where the second volunteer was waiting and cuddle by her legs… Pocito had rescued himself… a tiny skinny puppy all- bones showing- a real skeleton with a dirt fur patched with wounds and endless parasites. We do not know how Pocito was programmed to find us -especially on an overcrowded day in the middle of summer- but it looks like he always knew and was looking for us! He quickly became one of the most popular dogs in the Refuge and his nature remains as sweet as the day that he hugged with his small paws the legs of the volunteer… Pocito greets us with great joy and goes sky high with enthusiasm whenever we give him the attention he carves for!
